Meet the Hertzs

Rabbi Mendel Hertz

Rabbi Mendel was born and raised in Chicago, where his parents lead the Chabad community there since 1991. Rabbi Hertz studied in rabbinical schools in New York, England, and Israel, and received his rabbinical ordination in 2016. As an intern Rabbi, he provided educational programs and holiday events for Jewish communities around the world including Ukraine, Nigeria, and across the USA.

Mrs. Rikki Hertz

Born and raised in Austin, Rikki studied in New York, continuing on to a teachers seminary in Israel. After receiving a degree in education in 2016, Rikki accumulated extensive educational experience through her various work in Chabad schools and summer camps in the US and Australia.

Rabbi Mendel and Rikki Hertz and are excited to be joining the Jewish community of South Austin. Moving from Brooklyn, together with their daughter, Rabbi Mendel and Rikki look forward to working with the Jewish community to promote Jewish awareness and observance of traditional Judaism in a modern world.
