BAR & BAT MITZVAHS

Welcome to this exciting time in your family’s life.

To become Bar or Bat mitzvah (son or daughter of the commandment), means to take ownership of Jewish life. We invite your family to connect deeply with the rhythms, values and practices of Jewish life as you approach this wonderful milestone.

This webpage is your go-to guide for navigating the process. As always, please feel free to reach out to Rabbi Mendel or Rikki if you have any questions. And most of all, enjoy, learn and breathe!

The Journey

Mazel Tov! Your child's 12th or 13th birthday is coming soon, and it's time to start planning their Bar/Bat Mitzvah.

Literally meaning the son or daughter of the commandment, this milestone is a transition. It is traditionally celebrated with a ceremony: reading of prayers, mitzvot of a woman for girls, and wrapping of Tefillin for boys.

But remember, those are just the trappings. The main thing is that another Jew has joined the ranks of their eternal people.
